Ayers > Before shot of the dining room. I hated the wallpaper so one of my first projects was to remove the wallpaper. During the removal process, I discovered the finished woodwork underneath the paint and wallpaper. The built-ins in my dining room are not "recessed" like most bungalows but are extended out from the walls.
Ayers > A wide shot of the dining room in it's "pristine" condition. I use that term tounge in cheek... :-)
Ayers > This is a picture of the dining room after the frst round of paint removal. This cost me many glasses of wine and margaritas as I attacked the paint with a scraper and heat gun.... Very Zen like....
Ayers > Another "during" shot. This shows the inside of one of the cabinets. The paint inside was a bit more resistant to my paint removal efforts.
Ayers > Here you can see the cabinet doors that are leaning against the window. The P.O. removed the leaded galss inserts and replace the glass with 70's plastic. I know it was the 70's because I found the original leaed glass in the basement wrapped in newspaper from the 70's (1973 to be exact...). The original glass doors are being repaired as we speak...
Ayers > Here you can see into my "parlor" (for lack of a beter term). That's a work in progress too...
Ayers > Close up shot of the woodwork in the dining room. You can see up close that the finish is still pretty rough.
Ayers > I still have not completed the refinishing of the woodwork but I still use the room until then. I reinstalled half-ass the leaded galls in the doors and reinstalled the doors to the cabinets. The room is decorated for Chirstmas, 2004.
Ayers > another shot of the dining room in its state on 12/04 Still work to do but it's coming along
